Cardiac Catheterization

Catheterization must be performed before open-heart surgery in order to identify both type and extent of the illness. The film demonstrates the procedure of catheterization and the fundamentals of exposure technique to an audience with electromedical orientation. Starting with the diagnostic evaluations as a preliminary procedure, the techniques of catheterization are demonstrated as well as the methods of right and left heart examination. In the technical part of the film, the standard beam projections are developed and their typical X-ray image is demonstrated under fluoroscopy and on patient film. It is therefore possible to learn orientation on film and correlation to the anatomy of the heart.
