This resource pack is designed for use throughout Key Stage 3, and is fully linked to the new National Curriculum. The pack is structured around a detailed locality study of a Sicilian village at the foot of Mount Etna, which provides the context for studying several major themes. It allows students to obtain a picture of a village constantly under threat from earthquakes and volcanic activity, and gives an insight into how its inhabitants respond. There is also integrated work on tourism, agriculture, population and so on, and information about Europe, Italy and its regions. The key features include: up-to-date material in a comprehensive pack; integrated resource elements - video, colour photographs, colour slides and photocopiable worksheets; broad thematic content, as well as detailed local information; a focused approach based on three key questions with interesting and carefully stuctured exercises throughout - extension work ideas are included for further study; and a flexible and easy-to-use resource for both teacher and pupil.
