Her theory-guided and methodologically rigorous study convincingly demonstrates that this sensitive area has largely resisted Europeanization. On the contrary, in the absence of legal competences, the EU has been unable to prevent many member states from adopting restrictive integration policies in response to far-right parties politicizing the failed integration of immigrants.
