Pete Litchfield had never left the U.K. when he was sent to Africa at the age of twenty-four to collect animals for Woburn Safari Park. 'Kamata, kamata, kamata' ('catch catch catch') was the battle cry so often heard during the battle to capture and thereby protect endangered animals, some of which were and continued to be so persecuted that they are now extinct in the wild. He only really grew up in Africa, a vast continent so different from the small village he called home, and where he discovered how expansive and complex the world really was. These experiences also came to form the foundation of a lifelong love of and admiration for East Africa - her people and her wildlife.
