Keith was for 20 years a journalist and a foreign correspondent. Then, for another 20 years he was a speechwriter, a press secretary, and a communications manager. At 25, he left Australia and spent the next 12 years in Southeast Asia, principally in the Philippines where he reported for 10 radio stations and three newspapers. Keith reported extensively on the 21-year dictatorship of President Ferdinand E. Marcos which ended in a People Power revolution in 1986.
