Max Winthrop is a partner at Sintons LLP, a long established firm in Newcastle upon Tyne. Max started his working life with a London based construction industry trade association heavily involved in industrial relations, before moving north and qualifying as a solicitor in 1991. Max's practice involves all aspects of employment and discrimination law, and he regularly appears in tribunals though out the UK.
Max has also taught employment law at the University of Northumbria and Durham and has extensive media experience including being quoted in major news outlets and appearing on broadcast media such as the BBC, Channel 4 and Channel 5. From 2017-2020 he chaired the Law Society's Employment Law Committee and has recently been re-appointed. In that capacity he gave evidence to the Women and Equalities Select Committee on the use and abuse of confidentiality provision in settlement agreements. Max is on the Executive Committee of the Industrial Law Society, a past President of the Newcastle upon Tyne Law Society, member of ELA and a consulting editor for XpertHR.
