The Computerized Newspaper

This is a general handbook for all newspaper staffs whose livelihood depends on understanding and utilising the facilities provided by mainframe computer systems in the areas of writing, data storage, editing and typesetting. This book will be useful to practitioners and students on courses, both in-house and at polytechnics/universities, covering all aspects of media practice. Paul Williams has been a journalist all his working life. He was Deputy Chief Systems Editor for "The Daily Telegraph" and was one of a small team that took it into the age of technology. He became chief systems group manager in charge of editorial and advertising production systems, before leaving to concentrate on writing and consultancy.
