This monograph deals with irradiation mucositis, which is an inevitable but transient, side effect of the therapeutic irradiation of head and neck cancer. Although mucositis is a transient complication, it can have a deep impact on the patient, bringing pain and difficulties in drinking, eating and swallowing, which can limit food intake. Other related complications are sleeping problems, speaking difficulties and deterioration of the well-being of the patient. The aim of the text is to evaluate new modalities in the prevention and treatment of irradiation mucositis to ensure the best possible result.
