Devastated by the death of his beloved wife, Edgar Allan Poe heads to Pittsburgh on the invitation of a wealthy benefactor. Augie, now a young journalist in search of adventure, joins Poe to keep him company. There, they find the city in panic - five young girls have gone missing in as many weeks. With Poe almost incapacitated by the lavish attention of their host, Augie finds himself exploring Pittsburgh on his own and investigating the disappearances.
