Russia 1815-81

This volume deals with the central themes of Russian history within a chronological framework from 1815 to 1881. While stressing the continuity of the problems faced by successive Tsars, it stresses the difficulties raised by the chain of reaction and reform which characterize the period. The major interpretations of key events of the period are discussed and re-examined by reference to the primary and secondary material incorporated in the text.
