The Forts and Fortresses of Gwalior and Its Hinterland

The study provides an animated historical account of Gwalior from ancient times to the advent of the Scindias. Aptly linking the mainfort of Gwalior with the smaller fortresses in the hinetrland, it unfolds an unique tactical concept of core and periphery in the regional power equation. In addition to archaeological details of the forts, it contains a description of important battles fought in and around Gwalior.
