The main content of the book is the metal-ligand chemistry and focus is on the Organometallic Compounds, Metal Carbonyls and Metal Carbonyl Clusters, their chemical and physical characteristics, preparation, classifications, identifications and applications. Chapter 1 describes the core information about the organometallic compounds of main group metals, transition metals and lanthanide metals, the difference between ¿-bonded and ¿-bonded organometallic compounds, bonding between metal and organic ligand followed by backbonding concept, calculations of 18 electron and effective atomic number, chemistry of metallocene (i.e. ferrocene, nickelocene etc.). Chapter 2 is about metal carbonyls, their classification, structural determination with the help of bonding, hybridisation and molecular orbital diagrams, the infrared frequency change in free and metal bonded CO. Chapter 3 contains the information about metal carbonyl clusters, their structural elucidation through electron counting methods (i.e. total electron count (TEC), polyhedral electron count (PEC)), the number of metal-metal bonds between metals in cluster and number of metal-metal bonds per metal present in the cluster.
