This book describes the conception, development and future prospects of endovascular grafting - a vascular therapeutic intervention that involves the blending of intravascular stent and prosthetic graft technologies to form a new arterial bypass graft system that can be placed within a lumen of arteries. Endovascular grafting permits the placement of arterial grafts within the vascular system by entering the arterial tree through a site that is remote from the site of pathology. All of these procedures permit arterial therapy to occur while the patient is receiving local or regional anaesthesia with minimal blood loss and a reduced risk of perioperative complications. The minimally invasive quality of endovascular stent-graft processes allow therapy to be offered to patients with severe comorbid medical illnesses occurring together with aneurysms or occlusive diseases.
