Many inaccuracies in previous accounts of the positions and movements of units are corrected, and the use of a topographical base and sophisticated time-phasing techniques aims to clarify developments. Over 60 colour maps trace the progress of Allied and German units in great detail, reconstructing and analyzing both the strategic views of the commanders and the vital importance of Allied air power. The text provides insights into tactics, equipment and operations from both Allied and German viewpoints.
