The Department of Health survey of GP surgery for 1991/2 showed that 48 per cent of claims made were for skin surgical procedures. GPs therefore need specialist advice on techniques and how to carry out these procedures. This volume divides each chapter along similar lines to that shown in the attached two examples which have been published in GP magazines. This means that each technique chapter would be divided into brief sections, including introduction, equipment, indications, technique and practice points. The procedures are illustrated in a step-by-step fashion using colour prints. Chapters in the introductory and post-operative sections are illustrated by colour slides and line drawings, as well as tables. Long tracts of text are avoided. Dermatologists, general practitioners and house officers are frequently involved in performing simple surgical procedures on the skin. With minimal equipment, a wide range of dermatological lesions can be managed effectively and with good cosmetic results. This is a comprehensive guide to the techniques used in dermatological surgery, with the aim of developing skill and proficiency in this area.
Illustrated throughout, this book should be a practical and useful reference to all clinicians undertaking minor skin surgery.
