The voluminous Jinnah Papers, of which this is the first volume, cover most of the life and career of M.A. Jinnah (1876-1948), the Founding Father and first Governor General of Pakistan. They unfold the absorbing story not only of his multifarious political activities, but also personal, financial, legal and other aspects of his extraordinarily full and active life. The period covered by this volume witnessed the fruition of Jinnah's struggle as well as the initial and crucial phase of Pakistan's emergence as an independent nation. Part I contains 718 documents, which are supplemented by the 14 Appendices in Part II. These documents have not been published before and constitute a primary source of information on a number of important issues.
