On 20th July 1944, a bomb exploded in Hitler's top-security headquarters in East Prussia, killing several senior lieutenants but leaving the Fuehrer unscathed. This book traces the story behind the "July bomb plot", masterminded by Claus von Stauffenberg, and other movements of German resistance to the Nazi regime before and during the Second World War. It also draws on the testimonies of survivors and the relatives of those who died in the resistance against Hitler.
