This is the first full treatment of New Zealand's freedom of information regime, comprising the Official Information Act of 1982 and the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act of 1987. The authors critically examine this legislation and its operation in New Zealand, drawing on American, Canadian, and Australian precedents and pointing out numerous parallels between freedom of information in those countries and New Zealand.
