Introduction to Phlebotomy

Coverage of blood collection techniques including venipuncture, capillary puncture, and arterial puncture is provided in this text. Safety, special collection procedures, and blood collection equipment are discussed, as well as developing customer service skills. The text is divided into three sections. The first provides an overview of the pre-technical training period and presents the phlebotomist's role in the health care environment as customer service representative. The second section covers essential blood collection techniques, and the third focuses on developing effective customer service skills.
