This work describes synthesis, characterisation and properties of some of the first-ever pyrazolate-based diiron complexes. Highly preorganized binucleating pyrazole ligands with chelating side chains have been employed to obtain distinct bioinspired diiron molecules with various co-ligands. Extensive temperature-dependent X-ray diffraction-, Mössbauer- and analytical studies were performed in order to unveil their properties. In particular, carboxylate-bridged pyrazolato-diiron complexes could be used to visualise dynamic effects like the "carboxylate-shift" and the novel "carboxylate-twist" in the solid state for the first time.
