What conceptions do young children have of Jesus Christ? How do their christological knowledge and competences develop? Six development processes are presented in this volume, showing individual competences required at the beginning and acquired in the course of and as a result of development. Their very heterogeneity shows what diversity can be expected in religious education lessons. Structured mind maps allow a quick overview. Besides individual development, the volume also focuses on collective processes. Collective competence in the subject matter, co-constructive processes and realistic ranges of interpretations of a whole class are shown using exemplary class discussions on central christological themes. The practical relevance of this work facilitates a variety of results that are significant both to religious education in school and academic religious teaching.
