This text includes the speakers' papers, the workshop reports and the general declaration of the Conference on European Nature Conservation Policy which was held in Arnhem, the Netherlands, in November 1993. The purpose of the conference was to clarify the challenge that the decline in Europe's biological and landscape diversity presents, to review the strategic context for action relating to nature conservation and to discuss the development of EECONET with governments, nature conservation organizations and researchers from across Europe. The conference was attended by participants from 31 European states and 26 international organisations.
