Wally Morris helps her young friend Paige Griffin pack up her son and their lives in Manhattan to move to an old mansion on the shores of Lake Champlain. When Wally boards the train to return to New Jersey, she pushes aside her worries about how they will adjust and wishes her friends well. She has no way of knowing that their new home on the edge of the Adirondacks, owned by Paige's traveling uncle, was the scene of a murder. Wally's concern for the Griffins' safety has her shuttling between New Jersey and upstate New York. It seems unlikely that her help will be needed, or even appreciated, but when the local police have no leads and suspicious events continue, Wally must determine who is wreaking havoc in the bucolic little town.

Joani Ascher lives in New Jersey with her husband and two children, two dogs, and a cat. She and her family have been involved in raising Seeing Eye (R) puppies for eight years. When not working in the local library, Ms. Ascher does a lot of writing, especially if there is a warm puppy asleep on her foot. The Wally Morris series is the first of her mysteries to be published.
