The Canadian Occupational Performance Measure (COPM) is an individualised measure designed for use by occupational therapists to detect a client's self-perceived change in occupational performance over time. It is designed for use in client-centred occupational therapy practice. The COPM encapsulates the essence of the client-centred focus and enables therapists to evaluate the results of their interventions. The COPM is intended for use as an outcome measure and should be administered at the beginning of occupational therapy services, and again at appropriate intervals thereafter as determined by the client and therapist. The COPM is used to: * Identify problem areas in occupational performance. * Provide a rating of the client's priorities in occupational performance. * Evaluate performance and satisfaction relative to those problem areas. * Measure changes in a client's perception of his/her occupational performance over the course of occupational therapy intervention. The COPM is designed to measure changes in self-perception of occupational performance among clients with a variety of disabilities and across all developmental stages.
