This collection of photographic portraits is of the painter, Frida Kahlo taken by master photographers - among them Ansel Adams, Nickolas Murray and Imogen Cunningham. The photographs were taken from her childhood until her death in 1954. She was born in Mexico in 1907. An accident in 1925 led to her early death. She became a painter, particularly noted for her self-portraits. She joined the communist party, married the artist Diego Rivera (twice) and had an affair with Trotsky. The book includes two biographical essays, extended captions and a chronology of her life. Most of the photographs are previously unpublished.
