Rezensionen / Stimmen
. . . for those looking for a top-quality collection of more traditional festive favourites, this remains my go-to recommendation . . . I have found it has been hugely popular with players of all ages.
There are two particular strengths that . . . make this my top recommendation for a traditional Christmas collection. Firstly, the arrangements of Christmas carols found elsewhere are often adapted from church choir versions, with four-part chords throughout that aren't always as easy to play as you might expect. Here . . . we have truly idiomatic piano writing, but which is no less faithful to the spirit of each carol, maintaining familiar harmonic colours rather than diminishing them in any way. Secondly, it includes an easy solo version of Walking in the Air . . . that fully satisfies my students' enthusiasm for the song . . . here we have an ideal two-page version that is . . . absolutely true to the original.
