Sounding heaven and earth is an organ piece inspired by Prayer, a sonnet by the metaphysical poet, George Herbert.
Rezensionen / Stimmen
Cecilia McDowall's varied, vivacious, sometimes violent work Sounding Heaven and Earth encapsulates in music the poem 'Prayer' by George Herbert, and interposes a magical central section, with melody prominent in both pedals and low keyboard. And if that (coincidentally) acquires a Messiaen-like feel, the final scampering rivals Mulet's scintillating 'Carillon-Sortie'. * Roderic Dunnett, https://www.churchtimes.co.uk * The organ writing throughout is thoughtful and idiomatic, and the piece will transfer successfully to any instrument of two manuals or more, helped by a realistic suggested registration scheme. A really successful piece which deserves to be widely performed. * Stephen Farr, Choir & Organ January/February 2014 *
