Ellen Mayer ist Dipl. Rhythmik-Lehrerin und Dipl. Percussionistin. Als Lehrerin und Workshop-Leiterin ist sie in ganz Deutschland aktiv. Sie hat Latin-Percussion an der Musikhochschule in Mannheim, in München an der Latin Percussion School und Rhythmik in Hannover studiert. 2005 reiste sie mit einem Stipendium der Landesstiftung Baden-Württemberg für ein halbes Jahr nach Salvador de Bahia und 2004 nach Kuba um dort zu studieren und Unterricht zu nehmen. Sie ist seit 2002 Percussionistin des Kevin O'Day Balletts am Nationaltheater in Mannheim und war unter anderem mit Robin Gibb (BeeGees) auf Deutschland-Tour.
