Southern University. He has worked as a public-school teacher in Houston, Texas, and as Director of Choral Activities at Arkansas Tech University. Aside from his teaching responsibilities, his conducting credits include serving as the founder of the Houston Master Singers and assistant director for the Houston Ebony Opera Guild. His choirs have sung at several state and regional conferences of professional organizations. Harris's music has been performed by several high profile professional and all-state choirs and he receives regular commissions from choirs of various abilities. He frequently collaborates with lyricist Devondra Banks.
