for SATB and piano
Afternoon on a Hill sets a poem by American poet Edna St Vincent Millay, which conveys a sense of wonder, appreciation, and respect for the natural world, and the contentment of the subject to return home. Derrick reflects these messages through flowing lyrical lines in both piano and voices, as we are invited to enjoy the simple pleasure of a sunlit afternoon on a hill.
