for SATB and organ
Full of warmth and expression, this piece is a setting of the well-known Lenten hymn to a new and memorable melody. A supportive accompaniment underpins the gentle and flowing choral parts that build towards the climactic text 'then "Crucify!" is all their breath'. Subtle use of accented non-harmonic notes adds to the sense of yearning for 'my friend in whose sweet praise I all my days could gladly spend.'
