Mediaeval Year Diary 1997

Books of Hours, popular devotional manuscripts of the Middle Ages and Renaissance, frequently included attractive calendars of the major feast days, incorporating scenes of work and play for each month of the year, or decoratively illuminated signs of the Zodiac. This engagement diary includes 12 calendar pages from a wide range of different manuscripts, each one shown and described with its appropriate month. The pages are enhanced with lavish border decoration throughout, and the diary is provided with an introduction and commentary on the seasonal activities of the medieval year.
