Albania

Situated on the eastern seaboard of the Adriatic, much of Albania is mountainous and remained largely unvisited by foreigners during the years of communism. With the decline of communism in the 1990s, the country is gradually opening up for tourism and commerce. Covering the whole of Albania at the large scale of 6.3 miles to 1 inch, the sheet extends to take in parts of neighbouring Yugoslavia, Macedonia and Greece. There is communication detail with seven different levels of road classification, plus distance markers and route-numbers. Railway lines, airports, ferry routes and seaports are also featured. Sights of interest to tourists include castles, churches, convents, mosques, historic monuments, caves, ancient sites, lighthouses and national parks. On the reverse is a comprehensive index of all the mapped towns and villages, plus important historic monuments and tourist sights.
