This film follows the National Gallery's sixth Associate Artist, John Virtue, at work on his monumental paintings for his 2005 exhibition at the National Gallery. Virtue begins by making new drawings every day, from specific locations alongside the Thames and the roof of the National Gallery. He then uses these drawings to work on the large-scale paintings in his studio. The film includes an interview with the artist by Paul Moorhouse, Senior Curator at Tate.
