PDEase

This Lite version offers all the mathematical capabilities of PDEase 2D, but is designed for users with small finite element problems. It simplifies finite element analysis with automatics gridding, automated error analysis, flexible solution methods, and a simple input language. The program solves static, dynamic, and eigenvalue problems in two space dimensions, including PDEs of mixed elliptic, parabolic and hyperbolic type. It defines its own element grid, performs error analysis, and refines the grid as needed until error criteria are met. It solves nonlinear equations by iterative methods, adaptively selects time step size in dynamic methods, and draws plots using the Macsyma front end. While users can intervene in these decisions, the software can make good decisions without user guidance.
