This software allows students to perform hundreds of genetic crosses using both the garden pea and the fruit fly. Peas experiments investigate Mendel's theories of dominance, segregation, independent assortment and how numbers of offspring affect test results. Drosophila experiments examine the same principles, but investigate also monohybrid, dihybrid and trihybrid crosses as well as the determination of linkage, map distances and gene order on chromosomes. Simulations provide data for dry-lab applications or for additional study. This software also offers practice in the quantitative aspects of genetics.
