Tariq Masood, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor at Frostburg State University. He received his M.Eng and M.Phil in Electrical Power System Engineering and a Ph.D. in Electrical Power Systems from the University of Bath, Bath. Dr. Masood is a Chartered Engineer registered with the Royal Engineering Council, a senior member of the IEEE, and a member of The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET). He is an associate editor of the journal IEEE Access, a certified member of CET International USA, a registered member of the American Society of Certified Engineers and Technicians (ASCET), and a senior member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE). Dr. Masood is a versatile, collaborative, accomplished, and knowledgeable professional with a successful track record as a professional engineer and academic working with electrical power and process control systems. He has published over 68 technical research papers and is the author of three books on FACTS technology. His research interests include smart grid control and optimization of process operations of FACTS controllers, financial markets, renewable resources and control system restructuring, computational intelligence, centralized and decentralized control, large-scale optimization and modeling, and decision analysis.
Jamil Abdo, Ph. D., is a Professor and Chair of the Department of Engineering at Frostburg State University. He also serves as Director of the Center of Product Design and Advanced Manufacturing in Maryland, where he plays a pivotal role in the development of cutting-edge advanced design and manufacturing techniques and technologies. He received his Ph. D. in Mechanical Engineering from Southern Illinois University. Dr. is a leading expert in seamlessly integrating renewable energy sources and excels in engineering systems design. His expertise spans the design and optimization of complex systems, focusing on minimizing environmental impact and maximizing efficiency. Dr. Abdo has dedicated his career to advancing research and fostering innovation in these critical areas and brings over 20 years of academic and industry experience, including more than 15 major funded research projects, to his role.
Arshad Ali, Ph.D., serves as the Chief Innovation Officer for Software Productivity Strategists, Inc. (SPS) and President of SPINN Labs in Rockville, MD. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Avionics from NED University of Engineering & Technology, Karachi, and a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh. With over 40 years of experience, Dr. Ali is an accomplished academician specializing in academic management, strategy planning, and industry engagement. He has been honored with several prestigious awards, including the Gold Medal for outstanding IT research from the Pakistan Academy of Sciences and COMSTECH. The Government of Pakistan has recognized his contributions with the President's Pride of Performance and the Sitara-i-Imtiaz (Star of Distinction) awards. Dr. Ali has collaborated on research and technology development projects with esteemed institutions such as CERN, Stanford University, and the California Institute of Technology. Atif Iqbal, DSc. Ph.D., is a Full Professor with the Department of Electrical Engineering at Qatar University, Doha, and a former Full Professor with the Department of Electrical Engineering at Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), Aligarh, India. He received his BSc and MSc in Electrical Engineering from AMU in 1991 and 1996, respectively, and his Ph.D. from Liverpool John Moores University in 2006. He received a DSc (Habilitation) in Control, Informatics, and Electrical Engineering from the Gdansk University of Technology, Poland, in 2019. Dr. Iqbal is a Fellow of the IEEE, the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), the Institution of Engineers (India), and the AIAA (Asia Pacific). He has published widely in international journals and conferences on his research findings related to power electronics, variable speed drives, e-mobility, smart grids, complex energy transition, micro and nano grids, and renewable energy sources. He has received significant grants worth millions of USD from national funding bodies and industry. He has published widely in top peer-reviewed journals and conferences. Dr. Iqbal is serving IEEE in several capacities, including Associate Editor of IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics and an Editorial Board member of IEEE Access. He has also organized numerous Special Sessions at IEEE-sponsored conferences and served on committees of international conferences.
