Geoff Hiten began his SQL journey with Microsoft SQL Server version 4.2 for Windows NT in 1993 and hasn't had the good sense to find an easier way to earn a living. Prior to that, he worked on dBase and other ISAM data systems. Geoff is a graduate of the University of Alabama (also in 1993), He has worked for many different organizations, managing their SQL Infrastructure. He built his first production SQL Cluster in 2002 using Microsoft SQL Server 2000. In 2005, in recognition of his SQL community leadership and involvement, Geoff was invited to become a Microsoft SQL (later Data Platform) MVP. That recognition lasted until 2018 when he joined Microsoft. In 2007, Geoff got tired of filling out new W-4 forms when finding new SQL problems and started working as a consultant. He now advises Microsoft customers on how to understand and adopt Azure SQL technologies as a Senior Data & AI Technical Specialist.
