It is expected that an estimated one in six white men and one in five black men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime, with the likelihood increasing with age. The American Cancer Society had estimated that 288,300 new cases of prostate cancer would be diagnosed in 2023. Adenocarcinoma is the most common prostate cancer encountered in the world. Rare types of prostate cancer tend to portend a more aggressive biological behaviour with inferior prognosis. Many of these rare prostate cancers have tended to be misdiagnosed initially or there has tended to be delay in the correct diagnosis of these rare prostate cancers. The ensuing book has been written to update the literature on some rare neoplasms of the prostate gland and to alert clinicians to undertake more research to find more effective treatment options.
