Like other arts, Rhetoric aims at perfection within its own sphere, but, like them too, it adapts itself to the capacity of the learner, and the use he may have to make of it. Hence, in learning Rhetoric the student is to take account of his own capacity in the first place, and then keep constantly in view the occasions he may have for exercising, and displaying, the proficiency he will have attained.
