Sudden death is one of the most difficult aspects of emergency care, and the traumatic nature of some deaths can be devastating for the family and the emergency team. This book shows how practitioners confront the sudden death and the essential steps taken to manage the event that may have a critical impact on the grieving relative. The book explores the unique interactions between emergency and allied health practitioners and nurses, those who grieve and, the body itself. By understanding what is involved in sudden death work, and the practical, psychosocial and spiritual tensions that arise from managing the event and sequel, it may be possible to provide a more responsive service.
Dr. Tricia Scott, (PhD, BA (Hons), RMN, RGN, DipN, Cert Ed.), is an academic in the higher education sector and until recently was Principal Lecturer and Programme Director of the Doctorate in Health Research at the University of Hertfordshire, United Kingdom, and was previously Senior Research Fellow in the Department of Academic Emergency Medicine at The James Cook University Hospital, Middlesbrough, United Kingdom.
Tricia is an experienced emergency nurse, teacher and researcher with a national and international reputation in emergency care. Throughout her clinical career in the emergency department, she experienced many death encounters with patients and families and this led to her research into sudden death. In 2003, Tricia was awarded a Ph.D. Social Research by the University of Durham for her research into sudden death work by emergency personnel. She is also Consultant Editor of the RCNi Emergency Nurse journal.

Das Dateiformat PDF zeigt auf jeder Hardware eine Buchseite stets identisch an. Daher ist eine PDF auch für ein komplexes Layout geeignet, wie es bei Lehr- und Fachbüchern verwendet wird (Bilder, Tabellen, Spalten, Fußnoten). Bei kleinen Displays von E-Readern oder Smartphones sind PDF leider eher nervig, weil zu viel Scrollen notwendig ist. Mit Wasserzeichen-DRM wird hier ein „weicher” Kopierschutz verwendet. Daher ist technisch zwar alles möglich – sogar eine unzulässige Weitergabe. Aber an sichtbaren und unsichtbaren Stellen wird der Käufer des E-Books als Wasserzeichen hinterlegt, sodass im Falle eines Missbrauchs die Spur zurückverfolgt werden kann.
