This book highlights the significance of food and feasts, employing it as an analytical tool to understand a community's social organisation. It also offers a detailed account of the life-cycle rituals that a community practices, which entail various kinship obligations to exchange food, considered to be one of the major gifts among the Newaa of Nepal.
