Discovered in 2004, graphene is a novel 2D material that has had an impact in many areas of science and technology. The world of sensors in particular has benefitted from this graphene revolution. Graphene and sensors are a natural combination, with graphene's large surface-to-volume ratio combined with unique optical, mechanical, and physical properties that were found to be greatly beneficial for sensor functions. From detecting minuscule biomolecules to monitoring atmospheric pollutants, the scope of applications of graphene-based sensors is boundless.
This comprehensive book is an odyssey into the fundamentals, applications, and innovations surrounding graphene-based sensors. It navigates the diverse field of chemical, biological, and environmental sensing, showcasing the remarkable sensitivity and selectivity of graphene. The book covers synthetic methods, physical properties and research trends, and consolidates advances in regard to biomedical, food and environmental monitoring.
As a reference text, the book unites and reviews the output from scientific researchers from the fields of electrochemistry, materials development and sensing, providing a single source for capturing the advances in both materials design and the applications of novel graphene-based materials in the development of original sensing technologies.
