Whilst the greatest effort has been made to ensure the quality of this text, due to the historical nature of this content, in some rare cases there may be minor issues with legibility. I endeavored in preparing in the first edition of my work on The Vermiform Appendix and its Diseases in conjunction with Dr. Hurdon to make that work a great storehouse of well-digested facts relative to the protean diseases of this little organ. It soon, however, became evident that a compact resume dwelling with especial care on the practical side of the subject would better meet the daily needs of the great army of general surgeons throughout the country. With that end in view I have prepared this new edition.
Dr. Walter L. Burrage has revised the clinical section and added one on Senile Appendicitis, Dr. Latimer has prepared the book for press and Miss Davina Waterson has read the proofs.
