Naomy Hyvönen was born in 1977 in Nakuru, in Kenya's Rift Valley, and spent her early childhood in this richly diverse region before moving with her family to Nairobi at the age of six. Her formative years unfolded within the social and political climate shaped by the leadership of Daniel Toroitich arap Moi, Kenya's second president, whose long tenure would leave an indelible mark on the nation's governance and societal structures. Growing up amid the complexities, contradictions, and evolving political philosophy of Moi's Kenya profoundly influenced her understanding of power, reform, and the dynamics of political transformation. It is within this milieu that her lifelong curiosity about governance, socio-political change, and African studies was born.Naomy completed her primary and secondary education in Nairobi, attending an all-girls high school where her passion for literature and societal questions began to flourish. In 1997 she moved to Finland to pursue higher education, where she studied Communication and English Philology, and expanded her academic journey to include Political Science and much later, Multidisciplinary Language Expertise. She also studied in Holland and worked in Belfast, Northern Ireland in the end of the 90s.Naomy is a mother to two sons, and resi. Her writing is deeply informed by her transnational experiences, the intersection of cultures, and her enduring engagement with questions of political evolution, identity, and societal progress. The Eve Years of Reformation is both a personal exploration and a thoughtful contribution to historical reflection, inspired by the lived realities of Kenya's past and its ongoing journey towards transformation.
