The first edition of this graduate textbook was published by OUP in 1995. This new edition still emphasizes the fundamental principles of spectroscopy with its primary goal being to teach students how to interpret spectra. In this revised edition the author has reworked and modernized the material on Roman spectroscopy, and has added additional material on line strengths as well as Zeeman and Stark effects.
