George Claassen was a senior researcher at the Human Sciences Research Council. In May 2007, he was the first winner of the SAASTA South African Science Communicator of the Year Award, presented by the National Science and Technology Forum. Claassen is also the compiler of Die Groot Aanhalingsboek (Human & Rousseau Publishers, 1998) and author of Geloof, Bygeloof en Ander Wensdenkery: Perspektiewe op Ontdekkings en Irrasionaliteite (Protea Boekhuis, 2007). George Claassen is now a lecturer at Stellenbosch University.
