This volume provides an in-depth analysis of abnormal pelvic anatomy in various forms of anorectal anomalies, often with multiple associations. The anatomy of the pelvis is one of the most complex in the body, and anatomists have provided detailed descriptions of normal anatomy based on cadaver dissections. However, congenital abnormalities present a spectrum of deviations from normal, which can be difficult to perceive with surgical practice alone. The advent of cross-sectional imaging has fortunately provided a powerful tool, allowing clinicians to study these anomalies in depth and on multiple planes.

Amr Abdelhamid Zaki AbouZeid is a full professor of pediatric surgery at Ain Shams University, a leading university in Cairo, Egypt. He completed his training as a pediatric surgery resident between 1999 and 2002. In addition to his main work as a consultant pediatric surgeon at Ain Shams University Children's Hospital, he also worked as a visiting consultant at Benha Specialized Children's Hospital, a government hospital in the Nile Delta.
He has published more than 50 papers in the different fields of pediatric surgery, mainly dealing with pelvic anomalies and anorectal malformations. He has participated in numerous national congresses, including the annual congress of the Egyptian Pediatric Surgical Association, and some other international ones; in the last two years he has attended several international virtual meetings.
Dr. Shaimaa Abdelsattar Mohammad is full professor of Radiodiagnostics at the Faculty of Medicine of the Ain-ShamsUniversity. She has over 15 years of experience in Pediatric Radiology. Her practice focuses on imaging of congenital anomalies with a special interest in anorectal anomalies, leukodystrophy and genetic disorders. Dr. Mohammad has authored numerous international publications in the related fields. Dr. Mohammad also received the Cum-Laude award from the European Congress of Radiology in 2018.
