A Wavering Grace

Gavin Young first arrived in Vietnam in 1965, just before the American invasion. He spent ten years there forming close ties with the Vietnamese people. On returning to the country in 1985, and then in 1995, he found an alien, embittered place, and a family finding their way back from despair.
