BERT T YOUNG was born in Stockton, California in November 1949. The son of a shop teacher with an abiding interest in history and a former nurse and homemaker. He grew up and attended school in Stockton, graduating from Stagg High School. Bert attended Delta College briefly before going on active duty with the US Coast Guard Reserve where he served on the cutter Lamar based in Monterey. Mr. Young graduated from the University of California, Berkeley and California State University, Hayward with degrees in anthropology. He spent the first half of his working life doing archaeology in California and Nevada and the second half teaching high school at Carson and Virginia City High Schools. He lives in Gold Hill, Nevada with his wife of 35 years Vickie Clay.
